We have all seen the picture of the United States map that says, “Do you live in a Constitution free zone?” If you are anything like me you have been questioning the validity of that. Unfortunately it is true! U.S. District Judge Edward Korman in New York has ruled living or traveling within a 100 mile radius from the border trumps your 4th amendment.

We are also guaranteed our First Amendment by the U.S. Constitution, which is supposed to guarantee our right to freedom of assembly. It states specifically that Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech or the right of the people peaceably to assemble.

That right no longer applies either. The city of Dallas has made a law against the Overpass peaceful protesters. Section 28.158.1 prohibits these protests from happening in the future as of 1/22/2014. One case is still pending in federal court.

Where is the line here for distractions?  There is no requirement that a complaint be registered. If you are on the street, an officer can deem you a distraction and you could go to jail based on a simple complaint or a judgment call of an officer.

 Are billboards, signs on the sides of a business, or even business mascots a distraction? This bill to ban signs was not needed until there was political motivation behind it. The best and most important question of all is, has Texas turned blue?
