2A VICTORY: MICHIGAN GOV. REPEALS BAN ON SHORT-BARRELED RIFLES!

Last week Michigan Governor Rick Snyder (R) signed legislation repealing that state’s ban on privately owned short-barreled rifles and shotguns.

The legislation–Senate Bill 610–passed in the house and senate by near unanimous margins.

NRA-ILA executive director Chris Cox applauded the repeal, saying: “Gun bans don’t work and serve only to harm law-abiding gun owners. I am pleased Governor Snyder and lawmakers in Michigan joined the overwhelming majority of our states by allowing their residents the opportunity to possess these firearms.”

Buyers of short-barreled rifles and shotguns still face extra scrutiny at the federal level via the National Firearms Act. This requires them to undergo a background check, “pay a $200 federal tax, and register these firearms with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.”
