We are saddened to report that a tragic event has occurred in Blount County, Alabama.

Authorities in Alabama say two teenagers and two adults have been killed in a small plane crash.

The dead were identified as a 16-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, a 45-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, said Blount County Operations Commander Tim Kent. They are believed to be family members, according to Al.com.

The fuselage of the small aircraft was found at around 3:45 p.m., he said. The four passengers were found dead inside.

Kent said the wings of the Cessna T210L aircraft came off in-flight.

Josh Phillips, of Pleasant Valley Circle in Hayden, said he and his dad were working on the deck in their backyard on Saturday afternoon when they heard a sound they later learned was the aircraft.

“It honestly sounded like the classic noise you hear kids make when they pretend to be a plane,” he said. “I knew something was wrong, but I didn’t know it was a plane.”

He said a 4-foot portion of the plane’s tail landed in his neighbor’s yard across the street. A section of the plane’s door was found by neighbors in the woods, Phillips said.

The names of those aboard the plane haven’t been released yet.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all those involved.

God bless.
