Officials said during the early morning hours, 25-year-old Ralph Alexis was beaten by a group of men and all of his belongings, including clothing except for his boxer shorts, were taken.

“He was knocked to the ground and continued to be beaten as he laid on the ground,” said Ocala Police Department Sgt. Angy Scroble. “We have been unable, as of yet, to get a full statement from him on what occurred.”

The incident happened at the Spring Manor Apartments on Northeast 7th Street.

Alexis did not want to go to the hospital at the time of the beating, but as his condition worsened he went to Monroe Regional Medical Center, a news release said.

Detectives are unable to interview Alexis because he had severe head trauma, but several witnesses were located.

The witnesses said the men punched and kicked Alexis, knocking him to the ground. The men continued to punch and kick him while he was down, a news report said.

One witness told investigators they believe the beating happened after someone Alexis was associated with touched a woman inappropriately.

“If that’s what sets you off that you would beat somebody until they’re down and now hospitalized that’s heavy violence right there,” Scroble said.

Investigators said that someone was in possession of a firearm during the attack, preventing anyone from intervening and helping Alexis.

Deondri Morant and Antonie Kendrick Jr. were arrested Wednesday. Darrell Gordon Jr. turned himself in Thursday.

Tevin Hargrove are still being sought on warrants for aggravated battery.

Detectives said there are two additional suspects that were involved in the beating that they are attempting to identify and locate.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call Ocala police at 352-369-7000.
