The checkpoint was under militants’ control for a while but it was recaptured after reinforcements reached to the area, Kintoz said.

However, a security official, who did not want to be named, said the policemen were killed by their commander who had links with the Taliban. But Kintoz rejected the claim and said a delegation had been sent to the area to investigate the incident.

Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, in his twitter account, said that their fighters stormed a security post in Karez area of Sangin district.

He claimed eight policemen were killed and their weapons and ammunitions captured by the Taliban fighters.

Almost all of Helmand’s districts, except for the provincial capital, Lashkar Gah, are either heavily embattled or fully controlled by the Taliban.

“We really need air support in Helmand. I hope they [US] support our air force, since we don’t have enough air power in Helmand,” Rasul Zazai, a spokesman for the Afghan army’s 215 Corps stationed in Helmand, told AFP news agency.

Last year, Afghanistan saw intensified Taliban attacks across the country, leaving Afghan forces stretched on multiple fronts.

Helmand is strategically important for the Taliban, as it is the main source of the country’s opium output, worth an estimated $4bn a year, much of which funds the war.

These people can’t even trust themselves. It’s a mess over there.

The bottom line is that we need to keep these savages out of America no matter what it takes.

Scumbag liberals like Schumer and Pelosi and the other bleeding heart trash need to recognize that these people are savages and have no place in civilized societies.
