In New York City even obeying the law will not save people from arrest according to a report from John Stossel. Stossel has uncovered an extreme violation of Constitutional rights going on right underneath our noses all throughout New York City airports.
Legal gun owners are being arrested in epidemic proportions. These are not criminals, nor are they breaking the law in any way. They are LEGAL gun owners, handling their firearms in a legal manner, following TSA protocol, yet they are STILL being arrested and charged with a felony at the gate.

According to the TSA website, this is the proper procedure for carrying a firearm according to LEGAL specifications –
You may transport unloaded firearms in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only. Declare the firearm and/or ammunition to the airline when checking your bag at the ticket counter. The container must completely secure the firearm from being accessed. Locked cases that can be easily opened are not permitted. Be aware that the container the firearm was in when purchased may not adequately secure the firearm when it is transported in checked baggage.
Here are the ten airports with the most firearms intercepted in 2016:
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL):198
- Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW): 192
- George Bush Intercontinental Airport – Houston (IAH):128
- Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX):101
- Denver International (DEN): 98
- Orlando International Airport (MCO):86
- Nashville International (BNA):80
- Tampa International (TPA):79
- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS):78
- Salt Lake City International (SLC):75
What makes no sense is that the many of the nation’s most heavily traveled airports are missing from this list — airports like O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and McCarran International Airport (LAS).
