Amazon has become the largest online retailed that’s expanded into other areas, including the film industry, and after a new report, you probably won’t be using it ever again.

Amazon Studios, which is run by a man named Roy Price, worked with producer Harvey Weinstein over the year, much like just about every other company affiliated with Hollywood. As many are aware, Weinstein’s entire life has fallen apart from underneath him amid countless allegations of sexual impropriety that include allegations as bad a rape from three different women.

Now, Amazon Studios, which is a subsidiary of Amazon Inc., has come under fire for its past associations with Weinstein. In fact, the company has been forced to put Price on a leave of absence following an allegation from Isa Hackett, a producer on one of Amazon’s shows, that Price had lewdly propositioned her back in 2015.

Why it took her so long to come forward is unclear; however, the company said it’s going to be “thoroughly investigating the matter.

From the Telegraph:

The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday reported an allegation by Isa Hackett, a producer on one of Amazon’s shows, that Mr Price had lewdly propositioned her in 2015.

Amazon said in a statement: “Roy Price is on leave of absence effective immediately. We are reviewing our options for the projects we have with The Weinstein Company.”

Ms Hackett did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Reuters could not independently confirm the allegation. Mr Price could not immediately be reached independently by Reuters and he declined to comment to the Hollywood Reporter.

Mr Price’s removal creates uncertainty about the studio’s direction when Amazon is investing more on video content than ever before – some $4.5 billion this year.

Worse yet, Amazon Studios found itself at the center of another controversy with rose McGowan, the Hollywood actress who accused Harvey Weinstein of rape. According to Fox News, the actress claims that after she told her bosses at the studio that Weinstein had raped her, a show she was working on with them had been canceled as retribution, and she was subsequently suspended.

The Harvey Weinstein scandal has spilled over to, of all places, Amazon, with Weinstein’s main accuser Rose McGowan calling out Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and the head of the company’s studio getting suspended after sexual harassment accusations from a TV producer.

In a string of fiery tweets, McGowan said she repeatedly warned Amazon about “HW” and “begged” the company not to work with the movie mogul but was told by an unnamed studio executive that “it hadn’t been proven.”

In a Tuesday tweet storm, she called out Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his co-conspirators for protecting a known rapist.

The actress also alleged Amazon Studios killed a show she planned to write and direct after she heard “a Weinstein bailout was in the works.”

“I forcefully begged studio head to do the right thing,” McGowan tweeted. “I was ignored. Deal was done. Amazon won a dirty Oscar.”

Amazon said the company is “reviewing our options for our projects we have with the Weinstein Company.”

So there you have it. Amazon, America’s largest online retailer, is apparently complicit in enabling sexual presdators.

If that’s not enough to get you to boycott their services, I’m not entirely sure what is.
