“I was taking a shower and the door got locked/jammed….” Quinn wrote on his Twitter @JohnnyQuinnUSA. “With no phone to call for help, I used my bobsled push training to break out. #SochiJailBreak.”

Quinn, 30, is expected to appear in both the two and four man bobsleigh competitions in Sochi. Previously he was a wide-receiver in American and Canadian Football with the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

There has been criticism of the standard of some of the accommodation in Sochi, although the focus has been on rooms for the media, many of which were not finished on time.
