Palm Beach Gardens police say witnesses told investigators that Williams ran a red light in her 2010 Toyota Sequoia SUV, causing a June 9 crash that sent 78-year-old Jerome Barson to the hospital. He died two weeks later after suffering massive head trauma.

Williams, who turned 37 on June 17, was not hurt.

According to a police report obtained by ABC and TMZ Sports, which first reported the story, the driver of the other car, Barson’s wife, Linda told police she was approaching an intersection going westbound when Williams’ northbound 2016 Hyundai Accent SUV suddenly darted into the intersection. The driver said she didn’t have time to stop and T-boned Williams’ car.

Williams told investigators that she was attempting to make it through the intersection but there was a traffic jam and she had to slow down to 5 mph, leaving her car blocking the right of way.

She said she did not see the Barsons’ car when she crossed into their lanes.

Williams, who has a residence in Palm Beach Gardens, has not been cited or charged. Police say in the report there was no evidence Venus was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They also say there’s no evidence she was distracted by an electronic device.
