This has been a concern of the American people for a while. Are they coming for our guns? Are they gonna take them? Well let me break it down to the gun grabbers. To strip away our right to bear arms is not as easy as most of them think. This country was built on the constitution and the Bill of Rights. This is why the founding fathers made this amendment so difficult to change or eliminate. Although it could be changed, the requirements to do so are near impossible, especially in our day.

For an amendment to be repealed, it requires two thirds of both federal legislative bodies, the house and the senate, to vote it in. (2/3 in the house and 2/3 in the senate) It also requires two thirds of the state legislatures of the 50 states.

The move to propose or repeal can begin with the American people, with a majority of the population in two thirds of the 50 states voting for the amendment or its repeal. Even if the people do this, it still has to garner two thirds house, two thirds senate, and two thirds of all 50 state legislatures.

The difficulty required to change this amendment should give us a sigh of relief. For our founding fathers went out of their way to make sure our rights protected by the Bill of Rights could not be easily stripped of their amendments. We as Americans are a free people, it’s our right and it’s going to stay that way.
