A truck driver named Micheal Harris got pulled over by a cop and got a ticket for a commercial vehicle violation but instead of being angry, he posted a “thank you note” to the officer who issued it!

Harris is black. Officer Mike Collins is white. Harris was armed. And everything worked out wonderfully! Imagine that!

Okay, here’s what happened. Harris is a truck driver in Arlington and the father of two little girls. He was pulled over in Frisco. Harris’ daughter Mikylie was asleep in the front seat, WFAA reports.

Harris is also a conceal and carry license holder. The day he was pulled over, he showed Officer Collins his registration and let him know he had a pistol on him.

“I asked if he wanted to take it but he told me that wasn’t necessary,” Harris said.

While the two men were calm, Harris’ daughter woke up from her nap and started crying, fearful the officer would hurt her dad.

“She’s seen a lot of stories on the news and one time she asked me why black people and white people are killing each other, I didn’t know what to say,” he said, adding that he doesn’t want her to be afraid of the police.

The officer and dad calmed  7-year-old Mikylie down. After issuing the ticket, Collins showed Mikylie his patrol car and let her play with the lights and siren!

“It meant a lot to see him take the time,” Harris said.

The simple act of kindness prompted Harris to post about it on Facebook after the fact. He said he wanted people to see black men and police officers getting along.

Mikylie rides in the truck with me again today. We’ll I get pulled over by a Frisco P.D commercial vehicle enforcement officer.

After following him to where they are setup at he ask for driver license and registration. I hand him my driver license and my license to carry.

And tell him I have a pistol on my right hip do he wanna to get it. By then Mikylie comes out the sleeper freaking out and crying.

I knew what it was immediately.

So the officer and myself explain to her not all cops or blacks men are bad. So he gives her a sticker and after my overweight ticket he let’s her play with the lights and sirens.

Hopefully she won’t think bad things happen when cops are around. And I keep my pistol on my hip the whole hour and half we were there.

“It was priceless. Hearing ‘Thank you for doing your job’ meant so much,” Officer Collins said.

“It’s a pleasure to see someone raising their children so well,” he said. “It renews your hope in humanity. Mr. Harris is an excellent dad.”

Of course, Harris wasn’t exactly thrilled about getting a ticket, but he said that teaching his daughter that police officers are heroes was well worth the price!
