Seriously, now. What the holy hell is going on?
Why are we still bussing illegal immigrants around the country? Why on earth would we drop off busloads of illegal women and very young children in 110-degree Phoenix with orders to pop in at the nearest immigration office?
Who thought this was a good idea?
I wrote about this on Sunday, thinking once word got out that the Border Patrol, aka Homeland Security, was doing this, it would stop toot sweet. But it continues. Hundreds of them, just dumped at the Phoenix bus stations.
This is offensive on so many levels. Since they’re admittedly illegal immigrants, the law states they need to be processed and deported, right? Not bussed around on a wretched tour of the American Southwest. And since they’re human beings treating them like cattle moved from one overcrowded ranch to another is simply inhumane.
Folks here in the Phoenix area are greeting these women and children with water, food and clothing. It’s a compassionate response to people who – while technically breaking the law – are being abused by the system.
Why all women and children? Why exclusively Central America? A number of reasons.
Crime is spiraling out of control in these countries and the women are fleeing with their small children. They’ve also heard that “amnesty” is in the works and that if you have children with you, you’re less likely to be deported and more likely to get amnesty.
Nobody has said this will stop anytime soon. And apparently, the Border Patrol is shuffling many of them from Phoenix to all parts of the country. Released on their own recognizance, they’re not going back (would you?), so get ready to take them in, America. Like it or not.
