“I gave him a gun. I gave him a badge. I gave him the training. If he didn’t have the heart to go in, that’s not my responsibility.” ~ Sheriff Scott Israel

It has been confirmed that 4 of Scott Israel’s deputies waited outside Douglas High during the school shooting.

Coral Springs police officers say that not one but several Broward County sheriff’s deputies waited outside the school building in Parkland, Florida, while the February 14 shooting was underway, Florida Sun-Sentinel News reports.

Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran called on Governor Rick Scott to suspend Sheriff Israel “for incompetence,” Breitbart News’s Jeff Poor reported. The speaker sent a letter to the governor that 73 House members joined him in signing. The Florida Constitution provides the governor with the authority to “suspend from office any state officer not subject to impeachment, any officer of the militia not in the active service of the United States, or any county officer, for malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty, drunkenness, incompetence, permanent inability to perform official duties, or commission of a felony, and may fill the office by appointment for the period of suspension.”  Sheriffs are covered by this provision.

“Today I sent the following letter to @FLGovScott Asking that he suspend Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel for incompetence and dereliction of duty. I was honored to be joined by 73 Republican colleagues.”

Relevant portions are as follows:

Article IV, Section 7 of the Florida Constitution provides:

SECTION 7. Suspensions; filling office during suspensions.—(a) By executive order stating the grounds and filed with the custodian of state records, the governor may suspend from office any state officer not subject to impeachment, any officer of the militia not in the active service of the United States, or any county officer, for malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty, drunkenness, incompetence, permanent inability to perform official duties, or commission of a felony, and may fill the office by appointment for the period of suspension. The suspended officer may at any time before removal be reinstated by the governor.

Under Article VIII, Section 1(d), a sheriff is a county officer

(d) COUNTY OFFICERS. There shall be elected by the electors of each county, for terms of four years, a sheriff, a tax collector, a property appraiser, a supervisor of elections, and a clerk of the circuit court; except, when provided by county charter or special law approved by vote of the electors of the county, any county officer may be chosen in another manner therein specified, or any county office may be abolished when all the duties of the office prescribed by general law are transferred to another office. When not otherwise provided by county charter or special law approved by vote of the electors, the clerk of the circuit court shall be ex officio clerk of the board of county commissioners, auditor, recorder and custodian of all county funds.

“Sheriff Israel:
Sir, you’ve failed. You’ve failed your department and the people you’re supposed to protect. You’ve lambasted the NRA and law-abiding gun owners in favor of pushing your gun control agenda. Unacceptable.#ResignSheriffIsrael” ~ Joe Walsh

It is clear that the Sheriff had his own agenda and ordered his deputies to stand down during the shooting, knowing he could cover it up when it went public.  What he did not count on was the Coral Springs Police that arrived on scene, to be honorable and truthful.

Not only should he be removed from office, but he needs charged with 17 counts of murder.  Do not turn this over to the FBI, the FBI by their own actions are a “no confidence” as well as corrupt and broken department.
