Sassy Liberty AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS –

The fight to save history, to preserve it in an effort to learn from it has now come to Chattanooga.  On Friday, Chattanooga’s Mayor Andy Berke gave the command to the City Attorney Wade Hinton to file documents with the Court in Hamilton County.  The documents are to confirm that the city of Chattanooga is no longer the trustee of the Confederate Cemetery located on East Third Street.

According to the property deed for the Chattanooga Confederate Cemetery on Third Street, the city is not an owner of the property on the deed but is listed as a trustee in the order from Hamilton County Chancery Court that dates back to 1942. According to the order, multiple trustees are named including the city of Chattanooga. This order is the most recent document record concerning the land the cemetery is located on.

Mayor Berke said in a statement –

“Our action today makes it clear that the City of Chattanooga condemns white supremacy in every way, shape, and form.

While we honor our dead, we do not honor the principle for which they fought. Our city should be invested in our future, not a discredited past. Confederates fought against America to preserve slavery. That is the truth, and we should no longer subsidize any myths to the contrary.”

The City wants Hamilton County Chancery Court to remove the city of Chattanooga as trustee as they are too much of a coward to stand up for history and America.  Apparently, dead bodies practice white supremacy now and the court is being charged with determining the rightful owner of the property.

James Patterson is the commander for the Tennessee division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and believes this entire fiasco in Chattanooga is nothing more than a “political move” from the mayor. Patterson believes it is simple – the Confederacy was not about racism but about the way people acted and practiced their rights when their government turned tyrannical.
