Two suspects were in custody after a report of a gunman on Naval Base Point Loma, Navy officials confirmed to NBC 7 Thursday.

A shelter-in-place order was still in place, officials said.

Officials said a field agent’s first call from base to local headquarters was at 10:55 a.m. notifying them that an investigation was underway.

A portion of the base was ordered to “shelter in place” as naval security forces and NCIS looked into the report.

Authorities set up a perimeter in the vicinity of one building on base, NBC News reports.

San Diego police said their Emergency Negotiations Team, consisting of police, FBI agents and NCIS officials, was requested to assist base officials.

Among the commands based at the facility are Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) and seven submarines.

It’s located at the end of Rosecrans Street with docks on San Diego Bay.
