(ABC News) — Americans in Guyana should avoid Caribbean Airlines for the next couple days after the U.S. learned of an “unconfirmed threat” relating to the airline, the U.S. State Department said today.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Embassy advises all U.S. citizens in Guyana traveling on Caribbean Airlines (CAL) to the United States from Monday, February 10 through Wednesday, February 12, 2014, to make alternate travel arrangements,” read a note posted on the website for the U.S. Embassy in Guyana.

The airline said in its own posting online that it is “working closely with all authorities to ensure appropriate security protocols are followed to ensure safe, comfortable and on-time flight departures.”

“The airline wishes to assure passengers and the traveling public that specific layers of security have been added to our Guyana Airport Operations,” the airline said. “All Caribbean Airlines flights are operating as scheduled.”
