San Mateo County, California – The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a gruesome crime that occurred on Thursday.

Around 11:50 a.m., Deputies say they were flagged down by a witness near Magnolia and Laurel.

“Deputies arrived within minutes and located an adult female, deceased,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Shortly thereafter, the suspect returned to the scene and was detained by deputies. He has since been placed under arrest for murder. The suspect was known to the victim and this is believed to be an isolated incident.”

The animal actually beheaded a woman with a freaking samurai sword.

San Mateo Country sheriff’s deputies arrested Jose Landaeta Solano, 33, for allegedly separating an unidentified woman’s head from her body in San Carlos, California, Resist The Mainstream reports.

Solano has a violent criminal past, according to reports.

The victim, who has not been identified, had a restraining order against Solano, according to the outlet.

He is being held without bail in Maguire Correctional Facility while awaiting a Friday afternoon court appearance, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Deputies were flagged down in the area of Magnolia and Laurel in the city of San Carlos by witnesses reporting an assault in progress,” Sheriff Carlos Bolanos said in a statement. “Deputies arrived within minutes and located a female deceased.”

“Anytime someone loses their life, it’s certainly a tragedy,” said San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Eamonn Allen. “As far as the shocking nature of it, I do know that the deputies that first arrived on scene were a little beset by the scene. We are providing them peer support. We are also providing support for the witnesses that were on scene as well because there were several civilian witnesses.”

Solano returned to the scene and was detained by deputies, authorities said. Solano and the victim knew each other, deputies added, noting there was no continued threat to other members of the community.

According to reports the woman’s body was on the hood of a car and her head was discovered underneath the vehicle.

A nearby resident expressed shock that something like that happened in his upscale community, in a NBC Bay Area report.

“It was kind of a shock, you know,” commented Chapele Thorborne. “This is a nice neighborhood. So, it’s a shock.”

Thorborne reportedly said he knew both the victim and Solano, explaining they moved into the neighborhood around three years ago.

“They seemed like they loved each other,” he remarked.

Sheriff Bolanos is withholding the victim’s name until her family have been notified. The Bay Area report noted the beheaded woman had two children, a 7-year-old and a 1-year-old. Officials said the victim also had a restraining order against Solano, the report added.

Investigators reportedly revealed a history of domestic violence calls and other complaints tied to the residence of Solanos and his alleged victim.
