JUST IN: Broncos’ Von Miller Gets MASSIVE Reality Check From MAJOR Sponsor After Protesting Flag

The Denver Broncos’ Von Miller led his team in a protest against the National Anthem on Sunday, and his on-field antics aren’t sitting too well with one of his local sponsors.

Miller, a Pro Bowl linebacker, led a group of his teammates in protest on Sunday before their matchup in Buffalo against the Bills, taking a knee as the Star Spangled Banner played throughout the stadium. The move was met with booing and jeering from the fans, but behind the scene a much larger issue was brewing – the veteran owned car dealer sponsoring Miller also became enraged.

According to CBS Denver, Phil Long wasted no time at all in pulling the ads featuring Miller, a previous Super Bowl champion, from the air. But that’s not all.

In a strongly worded statement, Long said that not only is he refusing to air any ads starring Miller, but he’s considering pulling his sponsorship entirely since he can’t support anyone disrespecting the country that gave them everything.

We are evaluating the events of the weekend. It is important to state that we haven’t fired Von. We are in the middle of contract renewal and this weekend’s events remind us that sometimes we feel that we best represent ourselves. We support Von and his first amendment rights, we know Von, and he’s a good person. He donated a police car to his hometown police dept. All that notwithstanding when we bring in celebrities to represent us we run the risk of being misrepresented.

We, like millions of Americans, are concerned and will respond consistently with our values as a proud American company founded by a war hero (Phil Long). While we can’t control the actions of others, we can be responsible for how we support our nation and community. That is why, years ago, our principal owner, Jay Cimino, founded the Mount Carmel Veteran’s Service center, and is supported by all Phil Long Dealerships. We support this cause not just with our words, but financially as well, and it is serving hundreds of veterans in need right here in Colorado. This would be a great time for our community to show support for our military community by supporting this cause or others that continue to serve them after they serve us. https://veteranscenter.org/

Obviously, with the focus of his statement being on veterans, Long isn’t too happy about Miller’s blatant disrespect of our veterans. He’s not alone, either.

Yesterday, we reported that the owner of Hardwick Clothing, America’s oldest suit maker, completely pulled its sponsorship from the NFL. The company’s CEO Allan Jones said in a statement that “our company will not condone unpatriotic behavior,” and he stood by his remarks by vowing to never give the NFL another cent again.

Meanwhile, restaurants and bars across the country are refusing to show the games of their local teams, also stating that they can’t support a league that doesn’t support the country. Unsurprisingly, most every establishment to make such an announcement has been widely supported by former NFL fans.

So while Roger Goodell and others within the league, including team owners, believe they’re coming down on the right side of this issue, the fact of the matter is they’re not.

Quite simply put, they’re waging a war against patriotism, and it’s not a war they’re ever going to win.
