BREAKING: Chaos ERUPTS On Flight At 42,000 Feet…Here’s What We Know

There aren’t many happy stories in the news, especially when planes are involved.  This is an exception.

A Turkish Airlines flight en route to a small landlocked country known as Burkina Faso via Guinea was flying over West Africa when the calamity struck.

A woman on board had begun to experience severe pains. She was only 28 weeks pregnant.  The average pregnancy lasts 40 weeks and a pregnancy that results in a baby delivered before 37 weeks is considered preterm. 28 weeks is in the most extremely critical category of this group.

Well, you can probably guess where this is going.  The pregnant passenger started to go into labor.  She was promptly dragged off the plane mid-flight.

Just kidding! Rather, she was quickly assisted by the well-trained staff if the airline she was on and her baby was safely delivered. Pretty amazing! (Sorry United…)

Via Canada’s Global News:

According to the airline, Kadiju was born over Mali airspace.

The policies for flying while pregnant differ for each airline, but Turkish Airlines allows women between 28 and 35 weeks to fly with a doctor’s note.

The pair was taken to a hospital once the plane landed in Burkina Faso and the airline says both are doing well.

Congratulations to the mother, Nafi Diaby, and best wishes to the newborn baby!  You have to admit this is a nice change from the way these stories typically go. But today has been an atypical day for planes all around.  A crash earlier today resulted in nothing more than a a bit of damage to a small highway.
