‘Breakfast Club’ Star Anthony Michael Hall Convicted Of Assault…

In an incident involving his neighbor, Richard Samson, Anthony Michael Hall has been convicted of misdemeanor assault.  Hall is the guy made famous for such antics as selling Molly Ringwald’s underwear in Sixteen Candles.

In January, Hall was sued by Samson, who accused the actor of negligence, assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional stress, according to court documents.

He initially was facing a felony battery charge after breaking his neighbor’s wrist in a struggle.  He opted to plead “no contest” to misdemeanor assault and has been sentenced to three years probation as a result. He must also serve 40 hours of community service in connection with the conviction for assault with force likely to produce bodily harm per California law.

According to court records the altercation occurred at the actor’s Playa del Rey condominium complex Sept. 13, 2016, after a neighbor left a gate open. An argument ensued and then turned physical resulting in a back injury and a broken wrist for the neighbor when Hall shoved him to the ground. Had Hall been convicted of the original felony charges he could have faced up to seven years in prison. Hall and the neighbor have had an ongoing and contentious feud for some time resulting in several run-ins within the gated community in the past.

“Hall got into a tussle with someone else in the complex. I heard yelling out my front door and walked out to see what was going on. I told him, ‘You need to calm down.’ Within two seconds, he was in my face and said some very unpleasant things to me. He then shoved me and I fell to the ground.”

Hall began acting in commercials at the age of seven, and his breakthrough role was as Rusty Griswold in National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983) alongside Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. Following the success of National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983).  He then rose to fame in the 1980s as a member of the “Brat Pack”  which also includes Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald — starring in such teen hits as the Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Weird Science. Hall was a “Saturday Night Live” cast member at age 17 — the youngest in the show’s history. He suffered a bought with alcoholism and got clean going on to gain a role in the movie Edward Scissorhands. In 2001 he gained a role in Freddie got Fingered and in 2002 he starred in all 81 episodes of Stephen King’s television series “The Dead Zone.” He also made a recent appearance in the Dark Knight.
