Sassy Liberty AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS –

Senate Minority Leader Chuck “Chuckles the Clown” Schumer thinks he is slick. He is eager to pass a Democratic-sponsored Russian sanctions bill.  His reasoning?  He wants to see if President Trump will actually sign such a bill – if he does not then Chuckles and the rest of the Democratic Demagoguery will consider it a failure on the part of President Trump citing his “inability” to deal with the foreign power. He plans to have the bill ready to put before the President by Thursday.

Why on earth do we need sanctions against a country we are not at war with unless the goal is to start a war?  I guess Chuckles never learned about the downfall of Napoleon and Hitler?

Chuckles issued a statement on Saturday –

“Given the many transgressions of Russia, and President Trump’s seeming inability to deal with them, a strong sanctions bill such as the one Democrats and Republicans have just agreed to is essential. I expect the House and Senate will act on this legislation promptly, on a broad bipartisan basis and send the bill to the President’s desk.”

Rep. Eliot Engel (NY-D) of the Foreign Affairs Committee, told the Washington Examiner –

“We felt on the Democratic side it was imperative since we hadn’t really made progress and we wanted it clear that we were not the ones stalling the bill, that we do something today to show that we want to move forward.”

In addition to the new sanctions on Russia for its interference in the U.S. 2016 election and its military aggression in Ukraine and Syria, the bill also gives Congress the power to review any effort by the Trump administration to ease or end sanctions against Moscow. The bill also includes stiff economic penalties against Iran and North Korea.

Passage of the bill, which could occur before Congress breaks for the August recess, puts Congress on a possible collision course with President Trump. The White House had objected to a key section of the bill that would mandate a congressional review if President Trump attempted to ease or end the sanctions against Moscow.

However, if President Trump were to choose to veto the bill, he would then risk both Republicans and Democrats overturning his decision. The sanctions review was included in the bill because of claims from both parties of President Trump’s affinity for Putin.
