BREAKING: CNN Just Got BUSTED In MASSIVE Scandal… Class Action Lawsuit Underway

In a shocking twist of irony and what screams as more than a bit of hypocrisy, approximately two dozen current and former employees of CNN and TBS have made claims of systematic problems with regard to “discriminatory practices being implemented throughout all of Turner’s Networks,” according to a complaint filed Tuesday evening. Turner Networks owns both CNN and TBS. The complaint lists statistics demonstrating black employees are promoted at a much lower rate than white employees.  Rather shocking for networks that have made their living promoting hate groups like Black Lives Matter and touting so-called white privilege.

The lawsuit goes on to make allegations that this “can only be attributed to the fact that Turner, specifically CNN has implemented formal written and unwritten policies and practices regarding promotions.”  Attorney Daniel Meachum is the attorney that filed the complaint and he states the statistics he cites were actually gathered by Turner themselves as part of an internal study.  The complaint also alleges that black employees historically receive lower scores on their evaluations. Placing the blame squarely at the foot of racism and citing discriminatory practices, the complaint states “there is no objective factor other than race that can explain this disparity since performance is not linked to job title or education.”

One of the named plaintiffs, Ernie Colbert Jr., has alleged in his claim that in his 19 years of employment with Turner at TBS, he has only been promoted twice.  He also states he was paid less than his white coworkers. I am personally curious as to how he was able to obtain that information as everywhere I have ever worked rate of pay is a taboo topic of discussion and something that can garner immediate dismissal at some employers.  Sales jobs and such would be an exception, of course.

The second named plaintiff in the suit,  Celeslie Henley, also alleges that she suffered discrimination.  Her allegation goes a step further in that she makes the claim that she also lost her job after she complained about the discriminatory treatment she received from white managers. Her termination occurred just five days after she complained.

Meachum is also representing DeWayne Walker in a separate action Walker is a CNN producer and he is also suing the network for race discrimination. Walker filed his $50 million lawsuit in December 2015.  In the suit, he claims he has been passed over for multiple promotions throughout his career at CNN as a result of his race. He also alleges that the company retaliated against him after he brought a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Meachum said in a statement, “we have uncovered stories involving abuse of power, nepotism, revenge, retaliation and discrimination.” Meachum stated that CNN, Turner Broadcasting, and parent company Time Warner have practices and policies that negatively impact black employees, in particular, by preventing promotion and if they complain then they suffer retaliation.

“African-American employees have had to endure racial slurs and prejudicial biases from superiors,” Meachum’s suit says, “such as, ‘it’s hard to manage black people’ and ‘who would be worth more: black slaves from times past or new slaves.’”

It is more than a bit ironic to me that a network that has spent years telling me how I should be ashamed of myself for being white, for my so-called white privilege is now being sued for racial discrimination.  This is the same network that derided Dr. Ben Carson, a brilliant and gifted physician, as having no experience for his recent cabinet appointment to HUD. This is a man that has overcome enormous obstacles, coming from the projects himself.  I think he has more experience with urban housing than many of us as a result.  Valuable experience that the wealthy elite currently in Washington know nothing of simply by virtue of his own background.  I look forward to watching his success in the Trump administration. Perhaps CNN and TBS might take a look in the mirror.  Their hypocrisy is showing.
