Richman confirmed to The Washington Post he was Comey’s trusted friend mentioned in Congressional testimony and he is the person who leaked the information to The NYT at Comey’s request.

Comey himself also confirmed that Richman was indeed the anonymous source that provided the leaked information to the far left propaganda tool in hopes of solidifying any potential chance of an appointment of special counsel by the Justice Department. Richman called the NYT and read portions of Comey’s private memo’s detailing his conversations with President Trump regarding former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn at Comey’s behest.

Richman has been an ardent defender of Comey’s bungled investigation into the Clinton email scandal and he has been described as both a “friend” and “advisor” in past media reports with respect to his relationship with Comey.  Richman also spoke to the NYT on the record in the fallout after Comey was fired.  He also confirmed that he maintains close contact with Comey and that he had spoken to the disgraced FBI director “several times since he was fired.”

The biography also notes that “Richman is a former federal prosecutor who served as the chief appellate attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, and has served as a consultant to the Department of Justice and the Department of the Treasury on federal criminal matters.”
