An officer escorting President Trump’s motorcade crashed his motorcycle in Indiana.

Blue Lives Matter reported that the motorcade was en route to Air Force One, when Officer Robert Turner of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police crashed his Harley Davidson along I-70. Nobody’s sure what caused the crash, but Officer Turner was photographed lying along the side of the road by passersby as his bike sat in the middle of the highway.

Officer Turner eventually received help, and he was rushed off to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. Apparently, Officer Turner’s injuries were severe enough to require a neck brace and was listed in poor condition, but once he was in the hospital, something incredible happened.

On behalf of the IMPD, we would like to take an opportunity to thank President Donald J. Trump for his thoughtful act in delaying his departure in Air Force One until he was assured that the officer injured in the motorcade accident was ok.

Calls were made by his staff to Chief Bryan Roach checking on Cycle Officer Turner. President Trump even took the time to speak with Officer Turner after the accident, to check on him. Thank you for your compassion, concern, and leadership Mr. President!

How awesome is that? President Trump demanded Air Force One stay grounded until he could speak with the injured officer to thank him for everything he’s doing.

To the contrary, when the same situation unfolded under Barack Obama – a motorcycle officer crashed while escorting his motorcade – Obama didn’t even stop or acknowledge the fact that he crashed. In fact, news reports at the time expressed relief that Obama’s schedule wasn’t interrupted by the accident.

From ABC News:

The motorcycle officer went down around 10 a.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway at Olympic Boulevard. The officer was taken to a local hospital, but was said to be OK. Further details regarding the crash were not released.

The CHP said they were investigating what caused the officer to crash on the 405 Freeway.

The crash did not delay Obama’s trip to Los Angeles International Airport. He landed at Palm Springs International Airport at about 11:40 a.m.

Quite the contrast, wouldn’t you say.
