Outraged Republicans called on former Secretary of State John Kerry to resign from his Biden administration post as climate czar following a report he provided an Iranian official with sensitive intelligence on Israel, USA Features reports.
The calls come after the publication of excerpts from an audio file obtained by The New York Times in which Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says Kerry told him Israel struck Tehran’s military assets at least 200 times in Syria.
Kerry has denied the accusations.
“I can tell you that this story and these allegations are unequivocally false. This never happened — either when I was Secretary of State or since,” he said Monday.
From 100 Percent FED Up:
The shocking leaked audio of Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif saying then-Secretary of State John Kerry informed him about Israel’s covert operations in Syria came out a few days ago. Before this latest treasonous news about John Kerry’s cozy relationship with Iran came out, Kerry was spotted having a meeting in Paris with Iranian officials. This is a clear violation of the Logan Act, but Kerry is a Democrat, so he’s free to break the rules.
But skeptical Republicans pushed back, saying the allegations are serious enough to warrant investigating.
“If this tape is verified, it would signal catastrophic and disqualifying recklessness by Envoy Kerry to Foreign Minister Zarif that endangered the safety of Americans and our allies,” Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said in a statement to The Daily Wire.
“And it would be consistent with his long pattern of empowering Iran’s regime. Kerry poured hundreds of billions of dollars into the Ayatollah’s terrorist bank accounts, was a close confidant with Zarif during the Obama administration, and was caught repeatedly meeting with him during the Trump administration (notwithstanding the Logan Act) — and has never publicly accounted for what they discussed,” he added.
Former Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told the Washington Free Beacon that the accusations are reflective of “what I’ve said for years: That [Zarif] continued to engage with former secretary of state Kerry on policy matters after Kerry’s public service and, according to Zarif, Kerry informed the Iranians of Israeli operations.”
“Before we cut a deal with Iran that reduces Americans’ security, it would be good to know what the arrangement, if any, may have been between these two leaders,” he added.
Other Republicans made statements critical of Kerry as well.
Kerry’s “is a criminal act and John Kerry must be immediately investigated and PROSECUTED. President Biden must immediately remove John Kerry from any government or advisory position,” Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York wrote on Twitter.
“This is disgusting on many levels. Biden and Kerry have to answer for why Kerry would be tipping off Iran, the number one sponsor of terror, while stabbing one of our greatest partners, Israel, in the back,” former Trump UN ambassador Nikki Haley added.
“Imagine for a second a Trump official sitting on the NSC, like Kerry does, told Iran details about Israeli strikes? I believe the media would be screaming TREASON and they wouldn’t be too far off, but of course they’ll say and do nothing because they’re useless propagandists,” said Donald Trump Jr.
John Kerry also arrogantly admitted that he lied about getting 100% of the chemical weapons out of Syria. Still, his secret meetings with Iran during the Trump presidency are even more egregious.
He wasn’t a part of the Trump administration’s State Department, so why was John Kerry undermining President Trump’s foreign policy?
Obama’s former Secretary of State John Kerry even admitted he’s was going rogue by meeting with Iranian officials to try and save the Iran nuke deal:
WFB reported:
In an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt to promote his new book, Kerry said that he has met with Iranian Former Minister Javad Zarif—the former secretary’s onetime negotiating partner—three or four times in recent months behind the Trump administration’s back.
“I think I’ve seen him three or four times,” – John Kerry said, adding that he has been conducting sensitive diplomacy without the current administration’s authorization. Kerry said he has criticized the current administration in these discussions, chiding it for not pursuing negotiations from Iran, despite the country’s fevered rhetoric about the U.S. president.
“Conducting sensitive diplomacy”?
