Couple received voter registration card from Covered California pre-marked for Democratic Party.KGTV/ABC 10 San Diego

A couple in the southern California community of La Mesa are not too happy after receiving a voter registration card pre-marked with an “x” next to the Democratic Party from Covered California, the state’s Obamacare exchange website, ABC 10 reported Saturday.

The couple, who wished to remain anonymous, said they have lived in La Mesa for years and have always been registered Republicans.

Now, ABC 10 said, they are wondering why they received the pre-marked registration card.

“I’m an old guy and I never would have noticed it, except I have an accountant that notices every dot and dash on a piece of paper as a wife,” the man said.

ABC explained that Covered California began mailing the cards to some four million people last week after it was threatened with a lawsuit from a voting rights group.

“But,” ABC 10 added, “that does not explain the pre-filled out voter registration card.”

“It’s a waste of money because there’s an awful lot of people who are going to get this that are already registered and they don’t need to. I can see that, but I can’t see putting x on the form before it’s given to me in a little bitty box that nobody’s really going to notice,” the recipient told ABC.

A spokesperson with Covered California told ABC they are sending voter registration cards that come from the Secretary of State’s office.

“We are mailing voter registration material. However, the application forms come directly from the Secretary of State’s office, with no fields pre-marked. The individual should contact the Secretary of State, which takes these violations of election law extremely seriously, and they will investigate, using the unique serial number,” Anne Gonzales said.

The couple, however, has not been able to speak with anyone at the Secretary of State’s office, and the San Diego County Registrar of Voters told them to contact Covered California.

For many, the incident shows that Obamacare is nothing more than a tool to get more Democratic Party voters.

A post at BizPac Review, for example, said that Covered California is “apparently shilling for the Democratic Party.”

“That’s the last straw,” one reader said. “Impeach everybody.”
