As the race for the White house continues on, Sen. Ted Cruz just received some devastating news about his campaign, and it left GOP front-runner Donald Trump with nothing but smiles.

Since around November, pundits and political “experts” alike have tried to convince us that as the field of candidates narrows, the overwhelming support Trump has been seeing would die down.

Well, apparently that’s not the case at all, a new nationwide poll from Quinnipiac University shows, and it spells utterly devastating news for both Cruz and Gov. John Kasich.

For months, The Donald has led nationwide polling while holding a comfortable lead in delegates too, and the latest Quinnipiac survey appears to confirm what most of us already knew – the Trump Train is unstoppable. The survey questioned 652 Republicans, and Trump holds a comfortable 14-point lead over Cruz with 43 percent of respondents favoring him. Kasich sits at the bottom with a paltry 16 percent support, and should probably just drop out of the race now to save any future embarrassment.

But what’s important about the latest polling is that for months, the assumption has been that Trump’s competitors would pick up more support as other dropped out, which would help unify Republicans around a single candidate, but that’s not the case at all. In fact, neither a Cruz nor a Kasich exit would accomplish that goal.

Apparently, 46 percent of Kasich’s supporters would turn to Trump if the governor dropped out, and if Cruz were to leave, Trump would get an even larger boost since 56 percent of the Texas Senator’s support would jump on the Trump Train. Meanwhile, both of Trump’s competitors have been calling on the other to drop out, claiming that they can get the party behind them to stop trump.

But as the race rounds the corner into its final phase, it appears as if the Trump Train is continuing on full-speed ahead. Better yet, it doesn’t appear as if the GOP establishment is going to be able to derail it, especially after yesterday’s terror attacks, which will undoubtedly boost The Donald’s support due to his tough stance on terror and immigration.
