DALLAS – Reports say shots have been fired near the Dallas Police Department Headquarters Saturday afternoon.

A heavy police presence and SWAT officers were seen running towards the headquarters.

The incident comes after sources told FOX 4 the Dallas Police Department received a threat about people coming in from Houston with intent to hurt officers.

A spokesperson for the department earlier said, “The Dallas Police Department received an anonymous threat against law enforcement across the city and has taken precautionary measures to heightened security.”

WFAA reports that Dallas Police Headquarters is under a lockdown Saturday due to a threat that officers said was being ‘taken seriously’ by police.

“The Dallas Police Department received an anonymous threat against law enforcement across the city and has taken precautionary measures to heightened security,” Dallas Police said in a statement early Saturday evening.

The lockdown was put into place shortly after 4 p.m.

Around 5:45 p.m., numerous SWAT team members were witnessed swarming a parking garage near Dallas police headquarters with their weapons drawn. Officers said that they were searching for a ‘man’ in the garage, but did not immediately offer further details.

DPD SWAT was deployed to the headquarters after learning of a threat made by a group from Houston claiming to be armed, sources say. Armored SWAT vehicles can be seen around the perimeter of DPD Headquarters.

An armored vehicle was moved to near the department’s downtown headquarters late Saturday afternoon and heavily armed officers carrying rifles were seen walking nearby. Police shut down a street in front of the department’s headquarters, but members of the public were still able to walk about freely around the building.

Police departments around the country have been the subject of violent threats this week after videos showing police shootings of black men in Louisiana and Mississippi.

SWAT has set off what is called a SHOTGUN BREACH.
