Five cops were shot — one fatally — on Sunday while responding to a domestic-violence call in suburban Denver, authorities said.

Terrifying news is breaking out of Colorado on New Year’s Eve after an active shooter situation erupted.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said there’s “multiple” sheriff’s deputies who’ve been shot and the situation remains active. According to the Daily Mail, a “code red” has been issued for the area surrounding the shooting, and residents have been informaed to shelter in place and stay away from exterior walls.

A Colorado sheriff’s office said ‘multiple deputies are down’ in an active shooter situation Sunday morning at an apartment complex near Denver.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said there is no update on the deputies’ status and the scene remains active in the Highlands Ranch area.
The deputies were responding to a ‘shots fired’ call early Sunday morning at an apartment complex on the 3400 block County Line Road between Colorado and University Boulevards.
According to WBPF, a sheriff’s office spokesperson confirmed that a SWAT team is at home where the shooting occurred.

According to the Denver Post, the bomb squad is also on the scene of the incident.
“We have SWAT out there setting up and preparing to go in right now,” Lekander said at about 7:15 a.m.
Video broadcast by Denver 7 shows an Arapahoe County Sheriff Bomb Squad truck at the scene.
In a Code Red the Sheriff’s office told residents to shelter in place, avoid windows and stay away from exterior walls.
An investigation is in progress and most of County Line Road is closed down from Colorado Boulevard to University Boulevard. C-470 is closed from Quebec Street to University Boulevard.
