A disabled Army veteran recently was pleasantly surprised when he saw what he thought was a parking ticket on his windshield. It turns out that it was actually a note with a $10 bill attached!

The note read, “Lunch is on me, Soldier! Thank you for your dedicated service. From a retired Marine chopper pilot. Semper Fi.”

The vet uploaded a picture of the note on Reddit with the caption,”I am a disabled vet with Army license plates. Found this under my windshield wipers today. Thanks for lunch, wherever you are.

He added, “I guess my Purple Heart plate gave it away.” The photo of the note along with his response garnered 34,000 likes and more than 3,000 shares in just a couple of days on the Facebook page “Love What Matters.”

Ha! How great is that?

Rebecca Endicott at Little Things points out that Marines and Army aren’t generally known for being close.

In fact, these two very different branches of the United States armed forces have something of a historic rivalry.

That said, nobody knows what a serviceman has been through like another serviceman.

Servicemen and women also have a knack for recognizing one another out of uniform.

Sure, having special plates on the car is a bit of a giveaway, but lots of vets from all branches of the forces say that often, you just know a fellow warrior.

The two men probably never would have had the occasion to meet, except that this small chance encounter brought them together.

America’s Freedom Fighters wants to thank all of our heroes and we ask our Lord to keep you all safe.

God Bless.
