Isn’t this what we are seeing towards anyone who holds Christian values? I actually applaud their decision to voluntarily leave the work force. These folks recognize that their religious beliefs make them unsuitable for the job but is it fair that Christian people should have to make a choice that will directly effect their lives in such a negative way?

No same-sex marriage licenses are being issued in Decatur County, Tennessee, because the entire county clerk’s office has resigned following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.

Decatur County Clerk Gwen Pope explained her decision to quit her elected post. “It’s for the glory of God. He’s going to get all the glory,” she told WBIR. Pope asserted she would rather resign than submit to issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. She and her two staff members, Sharon Bell and Mickey Butler, have all quit for the same reason. Their last day of work is July 14.

These three ladies stood upon their beliefs and they stood upon their morals and no one can fault them,” said Scott King, a Decatur County resident. “Too often we as Christians don’t do that. It’s time we followed the lead of what they showed us.”

Instead of forcing others to rearrange their lives around their beliefs Christians were taught that in order to follow Jesus, they must … “take up your cross and follow me” (Matt. 16:24), not force others to carry their burden. That being said should others beliefs be forced upon them? I say no! It is a double standard that our government and other groups forget and leave out of their arguments, equal rights and freedom are a two way street. Until people learn to respect Christian values why should they expect any respect in return?

  1. DISCUSTING THAT YOU HAVE TOQUIT YOUR JOBS BUT GOD BLESS YALL JUST THINK WHEN YOU GO TO HEAVEN WE WONT SEE ANY OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I am from East Tennessee where the ignorant hate filled religions of Abraham reign. Let me tell you about two incidents I witnesses while there and there are so many more. There was a 12 year old Girl name Pamela Hamilton who had cancer, The church her family attended were “Mountain Baptist”, amongst all the poison drinkers and snake handlers in the region. Her grandma was also a member and tried to speak for the granddaughter she loved in order to get the needed medical care for her. This church was a cuvvey of “Faith Healers” that rejected medical care and relied on miracles from God in the same way the ancient Hebrews relied on God to swoop down on their enemies to make the Hebrews supreme rulers of the world. I digressed, apologies, The preacher ordered the grandma to be “Shunned” another old time Hebrew tradition, and no one , not even the granddaughter was allowed to see or speak to the grandma. The state tried to intervene but lost the battle for the child’s welfare to this ignorant religion. Pamela died a painful death, some say, and the ignorant religion lived on. I will not give another example even though I could go on all day and night. My point is, being a student of history, is that as Thomas Paine said, “Religion is a man made institution designed to accomplish at least two things, one , make a profit from the fears of the ignorant, and two, for the power religion has over people. Poor little girl, Pamela, I grieved for her a long time and as it seems her name will not ever be forgotten by me. These news stories about her and the battle for her safety was big news in those days in the local East Tennessee news in Knoxville and surrounding areas. Add to this all the religious hypocrisy that lies within these religions that allows for Incest and abused to exist and there is formed a shroud of secrecy that hides its shame so others may not know how sick they truly are.

I am so sick of people (Christians) who believe their sins are better than others. These ladies should have been fired for not doing their jobs. Instead they put in a 2 week notice? wtf is that about well I am not going to do my job but I am going to stay and do nothing for 2 weeks? Sin is Sin no sin is greater than another. what about woman cutting their hair? it is a sin. what about women prophesying and praying with her head uncovered? a sin. Being a whisperer (aka gossip spreader)? a sin. Trusting in riches? a sin. Sedition (conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.)? a sin. Mockery? a sin. Lying? sin. Lusting? sin. Judging? sin. Knowing to do good, but not doing it? sin. Hypocrisy? sin. Greediness? sin. Fornication? sin. Divorce? sin. the list goes on and on. So tell me again that you are taking up the cross.

But the clerks’ jobs didn’t require them to formally approve of any other those other sins, while issuing a “gay marriage” certificate would. Just like a Christian baker who would bake a birthday cake for a homosexual sinner (which doesn’t endorse their sin) but not a wedding cake for their “gay marriage” (which does). They are being perfectly consistent – they are not condemning some sins more than others.

The problem here is that the 5 traitors on the SCOTUS should lose their jobs for violating their oath to uphold the Constitution, while these county clerks should be able to keep theirs.

      • Marcus Hickey says:

Divorce is a sin unless constituted by adultery I believe . Clerks and Judges approve divorces just because they do not like each other any more. The bakery denied them because of their beliefs but to have a business in the United States you agree not to discriminate or your license will most likely be pulled. That baker could have said we are booked and do not have time to do that cake. But no they let it slip that they would not make it because they was gay couple getting married. If decided to quit being a Christian and Believe in a made up book I put together and I owned a restaurant could I refuse colored people because my new religion says that they are evil? Or what if I owned a Recreation center and started denying black kids or maybe christian children from using the facilities because my new found beliefs?

Please expand on this traitor ordeal in your head what did they violate in there oath?

        • ideaguy42 says:

Divorce for any reason is wrong… but because of the hardness of the peoples’ hearts God allowed it anyway. So I could see a Christian being willing to allow it, too.

Read the dissenting opinions in Obergefell if you want to know how the 5 traitors violated their oath. The 4 in the right didn’t mince words – they concur that what the 5 did was blatantly unconstitutional.

          • Marcus Hickey says:

Divorce is Wrong and Gay marriage is wrong but divorce is ok because of the hardness of the peoples hearts? So christians can be ok with this sin, but against this sin. Sounds like hypocrisy which is also a sin. sounds like a lot of sin to me.

          • ideaguy42 says:

            Here’s what Jesus said:

Some Pharisees approached Him to test Him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on any grounds? ” “Haven’t you read,” He replied, “that He who created them in the beginning made them male and female,” and He also said: “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.” “Why then,” they asked Him, “did Moses command us to give divorce papers and to send her away? ” He told them, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of the hardness of your hearts. But it was not like that from the beginning. And I tell you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”

I understand Jesus to mean that divorce is always bad. Because a few marriages are so bad, though (e.g. one of the spouses commits adultery or abandons the other spouse), divorce is sometimes the lesser of evils, and thus it was permitted in the Law of Moses.

You can twist my words, but be careful twisting God’s word.

Marcus Hickey and lg….I pity you both.

  5. George J. Bereckis says:

Recently, a group called “Angry Queers” caused THOUSANDS of dollars worth of damage to the campus of Mars Hill Church in Portland, Oregon. Just the other day, 2 preachers were badly beaten by gays at a “Family” rally in Seattle, Washington. The list of crimes perpetrated by gays against Christians is MILES long. Yet lg claims that the religions of Abraham are hate-filled. THAT’S exactly the reason that gays aren’t generally accepted by society—–THEY commit the hate crimes, then claim that it’s the Christians who are hate-filled. Idiot bastards.

  6. Marcus Hickey says:

George I do not need pity from those who are blind from the truth. Everyone is able to be hate filled and violent. It is up to the person to choose their path. It is wrong what that one group and the people who beat the 2 preachers. And we have laws that will deal with them for assault and damages. But to say gays commit the hate crimes and blame it on Christians for being hate-filled is ridiculous to see the least. The hate is on both sides of the fence. And there are bad apples in all groups since we are only human, who are flawed.

I am just saying that it is admirable that these women quit for their beliefs, but if I was hired for a group and my work got a new client I didn’t like or agree with and did not fulfill my duties in that job I would be fired and not given a chance to give a 2 week notice.

But my point is we are all sinners in the eyes of the lord and only through Christ can we be made clean. And not all people accept Christ even though they have denied him thus far. We are taught to love our neighbor, and treat others the way we want to be treated. If they want to be gay that’s is fine, all we need to do is to show them God loves them and we love them and that we hope they change their ways one day. But we can not force people to follow the word of God. If we did we would be no better than our islamic cousins. Remember we show God’s light through us and if we are filled with hate, meanness , greed, how will sinners know our God is the true God?
