Dean James AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS–
Judge Joseph Wapner, of the popular reality television program “The People’s Court,” has died at his home in Los Angeles, California, according to his son, Los Angeles County Judge Fred Wapner. He died of natural causes in his sleep. Wapner was 97 years old.
Many people don’t know this but Wapner served in the US Army as a lieutenant. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service in World War II.
“Everything on the show is real,” Wapner told the AP in a 1986 interview. “There’s no script, no rehearsal, no retakes. Everything from beginning to end is like a real courtroom, and I personally consider each case as a trial.”
“Sometimes I don’t even deliberate,” he added. “I just decide from the bench, it’s so obvious. The beautiful part is that I have carte blanche.”
Wapner is also survived by Mickey, his wife of 70 years, two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
God Bless.
