The five FBI field offices involved in the investigation of the Clinton Foundation have been instructed by officials to proceed with their investigation with regard to corruption following the election of Republican candidate Donald Trump. The ongoing inquiry focuses not only on corruption but also potential money laundering. Agents in the New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and Little Rock, Ark. have received the green light to continue their ongoing inquiry and continue their work in the investigation.

The FBI is conducting a multi-city probe of the foundation and various its corrupt dealings. Shortly after the conclusion of the election, President-elect Donald Trump indicated that prosecuting Hillary Clinton would not be a priority for his administration, stating to the New York Times on November 21 that “I don’t want to hurt the Clintons, I really don’t.” However, he gave no indication that continued investigations into the Foundation would cease.

It would be a rare thing for a president to stop an ongoing FBI investigation.  Doing so, could be tantamount to political suicide or even expose them to charges of interfering in law enforcement action for political reasons.  None of which are good.

Originally, the Clinton Foundation was started as a nonprofit for the purpose of building and maintaining the presidential library for former President Bill Clinton. As of 2015, the foundation maintained a staff of 528 full-time employees with most of them working out of offices on Wall Street in New York. As of 2015, according to its Form 990 tax filing with the Internal Revenue Service, the foundation listed its net assets as $347 million.

The call for an FBI investigation appears to stem from secret recordings of suspects in Los Angeles involved in money laundering activities and the Clinton Foundation was mentioned by name….REPEATEDLY. This triggered an investigation that began last February.

On numerous occasions bureau agents also conferred with Peter Schweizer, who chronicled the money flows into the charity from influential and wealthy people and foreign governments and wrote about it in his book titled, “Clinton Cash.”

FBI Director James Comey has been criticized by both Democrats and Republicans for his decisions on probing Hillary Clinton over her use of a private email server for government business.  He ended an investigation in July of this year of her email but then resurrected it just 10 days before the election when her emails showed up in a laptop owned by former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Weiner, who is married to Clinton aide Huma Abedin, is reportedly being investigated on child pornography grounds when he allegedly “sexted” with underage girls.
