“While the weapon was falling, the agent tried to catch the firearm and inadvertently pulled the trigger. A bullet hit the agent in the heel.”

The gun went off at Terminal A near the security checkpoint for gates 70 to 129. The bullet apparently ripped a gash of several inches in the carpet under a bench near the atrium’s fountain. The agent hails from Kansas City and was said to be on vacation according to the Orlando Sentinel.  He sat in a wheelchair after the incident and was treated by paramedics, who bandaged his heel. He was then able to walk to a stretcher to make his way to the hospital for treatment and expects to make a full recovery. There were no additional injuries other than the agent himself and the accident did not cause any disruption to the day to day business of the airport.
