The latest updates as exit polls confirm that Emmanuel Macron has won 65.5% of the vote, with Marine Le Pen at just 34.5%.

Addressing supporters in the east of Paris, Le Pen said she had already called Mr Macron to congratulate him, adding the French people had voted for “continuity.”

Mr Macron’s supporters, meanwhile, are pouring into the courtyard outside the Louvre museum in the French capital, where the 39-year-old will deliver a victory speech later, Sky News reports.

This is terrible news for France as Macron is an ultra liberal who will continue to allow Muslims take over the country.

He wants deeper EU integration, while Ms Le Pen’s policies included France leaving the bloc, quitting the euro and cracking down on immigration.

British Prime Minister Theresa May has congratulated Mr Macron in a statement, as has German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Theresa May’s spokesperson has said: “The Prime Minister warmly congratulates President-elect Macron on his election success. France is one of our closest allies and we look forward to working with the new President on a wide range of shared priorities.”

This was via her spokesman on Twitter, and it was written in French and German: “Congratulations, @EmmanuelMacron. Your victory is a victory for a strong and united Europe and for French-German friendship.”

Marine Le Pen is already addressing supporters.

She says the French public have voted for continuity, and that she has congratulated Mr Macron on the phone.
