The recent swarm into our country has been far from just children. Most of the children coming through has been a cover for the adults coming over. These adults come from all over and are involved in everything from drugs, gang violence, to terrorism. There have been eye witness testimony to this, many of which wish to remain anonymous.

That has not stopped advocate groups from rallying to get these illegal border jumpers a US drivers license. As of today it is already legal in 11 states and the District of Columbia. Three of these states have almost no stipulations at all to obtain a DL whatsoever. In reality the only stipulation that New Mexico, Utah, and Washington currently have is that you can obtain a DL if you can not provide a social security number or proof of legal status.  

The 11 states include California with the exception of San Francisco show proof of residency in the state. Connecticut in all fairness you do have to sign an affidavit stating you will file for legal status or at least an application within a year of the date of the issuance of the DL. DC, proof of 6 month residency.

Illinois, provide DL for those ineligible for SS#’s and can’t receive/provide legal staus. Maryland, anyone w/out SS# must have filed a MD tax return or been a dependent of a MD tax return filer.

Nevada,The Director of DMV can not release legal status of any person applying for a DL. There must not be markings on the DL that could be used to determine the eligibility of any benefits.

New Mexico, the law allows for an applicant to provide any form of identification instead of social security number, “regardless of immigration status.”

Utah, The law allows the DMV to issue a DL to anyone in the country illegally who can provide Utah residency. Vermont, DL issued without social security # if documents such as name, DOB, place of birth, a passport, consular identification document, adoption, divorce, recent child born here, or a recent marriage here. Other documents may be accepted.

 Proof of VT residency Washington, law allows DL to be issued without a social security number with proof of residency. Proof can be in the form of utility bill, car title, welfare benefits, recent marriage or child birth certificate, as well as other documents. Many states not listed to allow exceptions under the DACA (deferred action for childhood arrivals) signed by Obama on 6-15-12.

 Two states strictly oppose the issuance of DL to illegals via executive order by their Governor, Arizona and Nebraska.

Currently groups in Florida are petitioning Gov Rick Scott to allow illegals in FL to be able to obtain a DL. They have even set up petition signing points around Sarasota, FL.
