The controversy over players kneeling for the National Anthem in the NFL has taken its toll on Commissioner Roger Goodell, and now he’s paying the piper for it.

Ratings for the league have now seen their lowest point since 2015, and there’s really only one thing to blame – Americans are tired of overpaid athletes whining about oppression. However, despite the discontent among millions of people that social Marxists have hijacked their former favorite sport, Goodell has been backing the players instead of taking the appropriate actions to quell the insurrection and keep the league’s fans happy.

On top of killing fan interest, Goodell has another issue, and this one is actually about to cost him his job. You see, the billionaires who own the teams are concerned their investments are being wasted because Goodell wants to be a pussy hat-wearing social justice warrior instead of standing up for what’s right.

Now, team owners are revolting, and none other than Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones is leading the charge.

ESPN reported:

The Cowboys’ Jerry Jones was a leading voice among 17 NFL owners on a conference call Thursday that discussed the possibility of halting commissioner Roger Goodell’s pending contract extension, sources involved with the call told ESPN.

There is a growing difference of opinion among owners about Goodell’s overall performance as commissioner, according to sources. The owners on Thursday’s conference call are generally unhappy with Goodell and the NFL’s front office for a variety of reasons, including the player protests staged during the national anthem, issues regarding the relocation of teams to Los Angeles and the league’s handling of the Ray Rice domestic violence case, according to sources.

“You don’t get to have this many messes over the years like Roger has had and survive it,” one owner said during the call.

While some have said it would almost be an impossibility for team owners to oust Goodell, the actual team owners have a much different take on the matter.

“Maybe Arthur [Blank, the head of the compensation committee] and that committee think they’re on track,” an owner said about Goodell’s extension talks. “But they have a lot more resistance than they counted on — and maybe they don’t know how the resistance is growing as we speak.”

And why wouldn’t it? These owners have literally invested billions of dollars into their franchises, and Goodell has single-handedly destroyed the league’s popularity, causing owners, their franchises, and the networks that run the games to lose untold sums of money over his stupidity.

The worst part for Goodell is that team owners themselves have almost no confidence whatsoever that he’ll be able to make things right.

“We just don’t have enough problem solvers,” another NFL owner said. “We gotta get it right or we’re just going to let it burn. Last time I felt like this was before the 1993 CBA settlement. That was just depressing, and Paul Tagliabue and Gene [Upshaw] stepped up and saved it in a spectacular way. We don’t have that feeling right now.”

News of Goodell’s contract extension being stifle – it should have been easily renewed in September – comes as nearly the entire Houston Texans team plans to protest the team’s owner after he used a common phrase when speaking of the Anthem protests and the league’s refusal to put the kibosh on them.

“We can’t have inmates the prison,” Bob McNair said after a meeting between owners and the league.

As a result, ESPN reported, nearly 70 percent of the team plans on kneeling during the Anthem on Sunday, as if disrespecting the Anthem and our nation yet again is going to make people sympathetic to their delicate feelings.

Regardless, if the league really wants to see any change, it has no choice but to rid itself of the pussy hat-wearing Goodell, as he’s been its most destructive force ever.
