GUN CONTROL-WHAT BOTH PARTIES HAVE SHUT THEIR MOUTHS ABOUT DURING MID-TERMS!

Election-2014

By JACK ALOPE
I’m not sure why I’m so far behind on catching this little detail, but it got me thinking. Maybe I’m not the only one who hasn’t noticed? There are issues, all over the news right now, that are taking center stage in the electoral debates. Campaigns from both parties are firing off whatever statistics and lies they can to sway voters to their side of the argument. Gay “marriage”, foreign affairs, the economy, the environment… everything but one singular issue that no one wants to touch. Gun control.

It’s no surprise that liberals have pulled back on this issue as the election approaches. They’re starting to learn that being forthcoming, in regards to their views on the topic, is more damaging than helpful. We all remember how poorly things turned out for them in the Colorado recall elections, after all. The fact is, even people who don’t own guns are naturally skeptical of a politician who is for the concept of disarming the public. Liberals running away from the topic shouldn’t surprise any of us.

What gets me a little more upset is the fact that conservatives are backing away from the topic at the same rate. While we should be solidifying our voter base, we’re skirting around a topic that is, very much, on the mind of the people. We want candidates who will promise to stop the erosion of our constitutional rights! Someone who would run on promising to restore more of our Second Amendment rights would be a dream candidate for many of us! Yet here we are, having to sift through months old articles and campaign speeches of previous months just to find a pro Second Amendment reference! Why are we cowering from what should be our strongest stance?

Here’s the truth. Liberals are cowering from the issue out of a natural understanding that it exposes them as dictators and a ruling class. If we were really interested in driving home the point, our Conservative politicians would be making sure the forefront of every debate and campaign stop was a solid pro Second Amendment stance.

This November is the last chance we have before those pinnacle 2016 elections. If we really want to avert the disastrous course this country is headed down, now is not the time to be running on half measures and empty words.
