The embattled AG is making sure he has his hands firmly on the reins of the Department of Justice today — a crucial requisite to maintaining control over the very bureaucratic executive department.

These chief federal prosecutors are responsible for representing the federal government in various district courts that stretch across the country.

Also, and perhaps this is the most important detail, they represent the government in cases that head to the court of appeals.

With the former controversy over the much needed travel ban close to mind, it is not surprise that Sessions and President Trump have decided to push out the remaining Obama attorneys.  When push comes to shove, these men and women must be ready to fight through the adjudication process in order to see that the President’s mission is successful.

There are 93 US Attorneys that serve under Sessions and each attorney serves for a term of four years — at the pleasure of the sitting president who is able to ask them to step aside.  Each US Attorney is armed with a number of  Assistant US Attorneys  as well as countless supporting staff.  It’s impossible to quantify the size of the department but it is imperative that every American understand how important this move is.  Until then, Sessions can only put them on cases he believes they will fulfill honestly:

“Until the new U.S. attorneys are confirmed, the dedicated career prosecutors in our U.S. attorney’s offices will continue the great work of the department in investigating, prosecuting, and deterring the most violent offenders.”

Sessions has announced an ambitious plan to track down and remove the most vicious and dangerous illegal immigrants–one of many steps needed to drain this nationwide swamp.  But that’s not the only hurdle he will have to deal with.  Moving forward, Sessions will need to have his eye on the ball and not worried about a knife in his back as he seeks to root out the deepest forms of corruption.

From Reagan to Obama every sitting President has been very liberal in their removal of former attorneys because it is imperative that the system works to support the policy moves mandated by the electorate.  If a deep state were allowed to exist within the most important elements of the Justice Department there would be no hope for this nation.

Reuters: “It is routine for a new president to appoint his own U.S. attorneys, who are political appointees.”

New York Times (2007): “Why not focus on the Clinton administration’s having “fired all 93 U.S. attorneys” when Janet Reno became attorney general in March 1993? The idea was introduced in a memo from a Justice Department spokeswoman.”

Don’t let anyone tell you this is unorthodox. It’s not.
