BUSTED: ‘Hero’ John Lewis Does NOT Want THIS Out After Boycotting ‘Illegitimate’ Inauguration

Sean Brown AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS

Liberal folk hero John Lewis said that he’ll be boycotting the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump because he believes Trump is “illegitimate,” but as many have speculated, the move appears to be highly partisan in nature.

Lewis, who’s often praised by the left for his participation in the Civil Rights movement of the 60s, started a war of words with Trump when he claimed that Trump’s presidency isn’t legitimate and he won’t respect it. The problem for Lewis is that while he claims to be standing on principle, the move seems to be a pattern for him, which would suggest the only principle he’s standing on is the one that forces him to oppose everything GOP.

A partisan move if there ever was one.

According to the Washington Examiner, Lewis, along with Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., Barbara Lee, D-Calif., Katherine Clark, D-Mass., and others, some 19 Democrats in total, will be finding something else to do on Friday as the nation welcomes its 45th President. However, for many of them it’s not the first time they skipped an inauguration.

In fact, they pulled a similar stunt back in 2001, after George W. Bush won a contentious election, which would mean they’ve missed the last two GOP presidents being sworn in.

Coincidence?

But this is also part of a pattern. Lewis and Lee, along with some other Democratic lawmakers at the time, also boycotted to make a point when President George W. Bush was inaugurated in 2001. The Washington Post reported at the time that Lewis “thought it would be hypocritical to attend Bush’s swearing-in because he doesn’t believe Bush is the true elected president.”

Maybe they had a better excuse that time, as there was so much lingering acrimony surrounding the Florida recount. But we’re talking about elected members of Congress who have refused to accept two Republican presidencies in a row. Is there always a good enough excuse whenever a Republican wins? At what point is it fair to ask whether some people are just not committed to democratic or legal processes at all unless the results come out as they hope?

Trump, after all, was rightly criticized for refusing to commit in advance to accepting the election’s outcome. America’s republican system of government cannot function unless all parties are willing accept the outcome the system produces. That is especially true when they do not like the outcome.

Lovely, eh? Although it’s no surprise that many Democrats are sour grapes after losing so badly this election, since we all know they really, really hate to lose.

To the contrary, a Google search reveals that there doesn’t appear to have been any GOP members of Congress who skipped Obama’s inauguration, and for the first two years or so the GOP at least publicly stated they supported Obama and wanted to work with him. However, it doesn’t seem as if Trump will be getting the same treatment from the Democrats, who have been grandstanding and vowing to block all of his actions before they even get off the ground.

Too bad for them, they don’t have the power in either house of Congress to stop anything.

I think it’s time for them all to put their big girl panties on and grow up. We had an election where the rules were known from the start, the people voted, and they lost.

It happens, but it’s not the end of the world. So either get out of the way and let Trump do what the people elected him to do – drain the swamp – or get behind him and help, but stop standing around kicking and screaming over an election you’re not going to be able to overturn.
