Hobby Lobby’s ‘Offensive’ Decoration Goes VIRAL After Whiny Liberals Complain

Daniell Rider was shopping at Hobby Lobby and was triggered so badly by some of their fall decor, she took to social media demanding the offending item be removed from their shelves immediately.

On Thursday Rider posted a photo of a shelf with glass bottles containing stalks of raw cotton plants on Facebook. She captioned the photo with –

This decor is WRONG on SO many levels. There is nothing decorative about raw cotton… A commodity which was gained at the expense of African-American slaves.

A little sensitivity goes a long way.

Apparently, Rider is under the ridiculous notion that black people are the only ones that picked cotton? As one woman pointed out there is cotton everywhere in her state and every single race is fighting to get a job in cotton as it is great money.  It keeps a roof over heads, clothes bodies, keeps food in bellies and helps educate children.

The post has more than 14,000 shares of people varying in incredulity at the sheer ignorance portrayed in just a few short sentences.

Daniell Rider proudly displays her cotton shirt and earrings with the continent of Africa prominently displayed.

One man named David Sauls told Rider in a comment on her Facebook thread –

So now we ban a plant because of what it “implies”? Because it “hurts” your feelings and violates some revisionist history you’ve embraced as truth? My grandparents on both sides of my family, southerners all, were dirt poor and planted and picked cotton all of their lives so they could eat. I wouldn’t be alive if they hadn’t! You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. Check the labels on like, all of your towels and clothing. You’re probably insulting yourself right now. THINK before you post.

Her Facebook post has gone viral with more than 159,000 comments from people attempting to educate her on just how ridiculous her comments are. Many telling her she is looking for a reason to be offended to telling her about themselves and a childhood filled with picking cotton yet they are not offended nor do they find the plant inherently racist. Many asked her if she wore cotton clothing or objected to the many other races that also have picked cotton.  Rider has not responded to any of the comments.

Sadly, Rider is not alone in her offense at something as simple as cotton stalks as students at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee recently took issue with cotton stalks being used as fall table decor for a dinner hosted at the president of the private liberal arts university’s home.

I am seriously just shaking my head at this point. Just where does the insanity end? When do we get to get off of this crazy train?

Pro-tip: everyone in the South picked cotton, not just slaves. People in the South STILL pick cotton to this day – white people, black people and somewhere in between. Slaves also picked tobacco and a host of other things, NOT just cotton. Slaves also farmed and performed household chores.  Are we to imply from Rider’s rampant idiocy that one should cease farming or cleaning your house or performing any household chores? I mean really? Are we to stop eating as well? Because you know slaves did that too….breathing? Is that off the table?
