For “illegally camping” in the Sandia foothills outside Albuquerque, a homeless man was shot to death by police.

In the video (shown below; warning: very shocking) James M. Boyd was standing at his campsite arguing with an troop of Albuquerque Police officers and New Mexico State Police.

The confrontation apparently lasted three hours. At some point, the 38-year-old Boyd told police he would walk down the mountain with them and repeatedly told them he wasn’t a “murderer.” Boyd appears to begin to pick up his things and – for some reason – a concussion grenade was launched at his face and when he appeared to pull out two small knives, he was shot as he turned away.

The audio clearly captures the shooter saying “Booyah!” as he shoots Boyd.

 

 

Albuquerque law prohibits “camping in an open space without a permit.” Apparently, the penalty for such an infraction is death.

The video, a helmetcam released by Albuquerque Police Chief Gordon Eden, shows the police officers then shooting beanbags and siccing a dog on his prone body as he begged them to stop. The video shows blood on the rocks where Boyd’s body fell.

Eden claims officers were justified in killing Boyd because the man made “threatening” moves toward officers. Then – suddenly – the press conference was over.

KRQE interviewed an experienced attorney who has gone after APD before for its wrongful killings.

“I’m shocked, I’ve never seen a murder captured on videotape before,” said attorney Joe Kennedy to KRQE.  “I’ve never seen anything quite like this.”

The attorney says that police officers created their own danger by removing the distance between themselves and Mr. Boyd, suggesting that police claim their lives are in danger when they actually are not.

“The big lie is anytime our officers shoot, they had a right to shoot because they felt threatened, and if this doesn’t convince this chief and this mayor that officers are out there killing people without justification, I don’t know what will,” said Kennedy.

“If they’re giving him an order to get down on the ground and he behaves in a manner that looks like he’s getting down on the ground, at what right do you have to shoot him?” said Kennedy.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE PERIOD! IT WAS NOT LIKE THIS BEFORE WE LET OUR GUARD DOWN AND LET OUR COUNTRY GO TO HELL BY LETTING MILLIONS OF FOREIGNERS COME IN AND THEN WE KISS THEIR ASSES! ENOUGH! THIS IS AMERICA! WE DO NOT WANT OR NEED 1 MORE PERSON IN OUR COUNTRY! GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS AND OUR COUNTRY!
