A man called a news station in Georgia Friday claiming he has a bomb and holding hostages at a Wells Fargo bank, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

Cobb County Police said they have responded to the bank in Marietta, where the man, who characterized himself as a “homeless veteran” called Channel 2 Action News and claimed that he has a bomb inside the building, according to the news station. The station said the man spoke for more than a half hour and listed his demands.

The man told the television station that is an Iraqi war veteran who is having financial trouble, and would soon be homeless.

SWAT, Bomb Squad, and K9 have responded to the scene. Officials received a call about the incident around 9:30am on Friday.

Cobb County Police Chief Mike Register said the officers have been in touch with the man.

One witness, Jae Edwards, who was getting gas at a gas station with his wife says the police told him to leave the area due to a bomb threat.

Edwards told FOX 5 that once SWAT arrived he believed he saw people being released from the bank building. He also said he saw snipers get into position and that an official told him, “This is not a drill.”

The street near the bank, Windy Hill Road, has been closed off to the public.

The public has been instructed to stay away from the area.

This is a developing story.

God Bless.
