An NBA G League player for the Grand Rapids Drive who collapsed on the court near the end of a game with the Long Island Nets on Saturday is currently under care by doctors.
The Drive said in a news release Sunday that further updates on Zeke Upshaw’s condition will be provided when available. The team didn’t provide additional details on Upshaw’s condition, Fox News reports.
From Grand Rapids Drive Facebook page:
“Team statement on Zeke Upshaw: Zeke was transported to Spectrum Hospital after collapsing on the court in the closing seconds of last night’s game and is currently under physicians care. The recent tweets regarding Zeke’s passing are incorrect. Out of respect to Zeke and his family, further updates will be provided when available.”
Team spokeswoman Sarah Jbara told MLive.com that Upshaw tumbled to the floor with about 50 seconds remaining in the game. He was taken off the court on a stretcher.
Disturbing footage of the incident shows the wing player fighting through a screen while chasing his opponent towards the corner. Seconds later, he is flat on the court and unconscious.

“I immediately knew it was terrible because he wasn’t moving,” said Drive public address announcer Eric Zane. “What was remarkable was how fast a lady came out – within 10 seconds – she came sprinting out there with a defibrillator.”
We send our prayers and hope that Upshaw makes a full recovery.
God Bless.
TOGETHER WE WILL MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
