United States Defense officials are reporting that an Iranian missile boat pointed a laser at a U.S. Marine helicopter while two Navy warships and a cargo ship were transiting out of the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.

The laser triggered a response and the U.S. helicopter automatically fired off flares toward the Iranian vessel.

The Iranian vessel came within 800 yards of the U.S. warships, Fox News reported.

Cdr. Bill Urban in a statement called the interaction “unsafe and unprofessional.”

“Illuminating helicopters with lasers at night is dangerous as it creates a navigational hazard that can impair vision and can be disorienting to pilots using night vision goggles,” Urban said.

This incident comes just days after a U.S. F-15 shot down an Iranian drone in southern Syria after it fired on U.S.-backed forces at a training camp near Al Tanf near the border with Jordan.

The gulf and narrow Strait of Hormuz are considered key strategic bodies of water given the high volume of commercial oil that is shipped through them.
Iran’s chief of staff of the armed forces said Saturday that Tehran might establish naval bases in both Syria and Yemen, according to the semi-official Tasnim news organization.
In October, missiles were fired at the USS Mason off the coast of Yemen. The missiles originated from Houthi-controlled territory and the Houthi rebels are backed by Iran. That attack merited a retaliatory US airstrike against radar installations in the area.

Also, in retaliation for the new U.S. sanctions over its ballistic missile program, Iran this month added nine American individuals and companies to its own list of 15 U.S. companies for alleged human rights violations and cooperation with Israel.

Most nuclear-related sanctions on Iran were lifted last year after Tehran fulfilled commitments under a 2015 deal with major powers to scale back its nuclear program – an agreement that Trump has frequently criticized as being too soft on Tehran. But Iran remains subject to a U.N. arms embargo and other restrictions.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in an address to Iranian military commanders posted on his website, also scoffed at Trump for tweeting that Iran was “playing with fire” by conducting a missile test last week. Iranians should appreciate how kind Obama was to them by easing sanctions, Trump said, adding “Not me!”

“Why?! Should we thank him (Obama) for ISIS, the ongoing wars in Iraq and Syria?” Khamenei said. “He was the president who imposed paralyzing sanctions on the Iranian nation. Of course, he did not achieve what he desired. No enemy can ever paralyze the Iranian nation.”

“Trump says fear me! No,” Khamenei said. “The Iranian nation … will show others what kind of stance the nation of Iran takes when threatened.”

Playing with fire.

Nuke the hell out of these savages.

God Bless. SourceAFF
