FBI Director James Comey hit back Wednesday against Democratic criticism of his decision to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails 11 days before the 2016 election while testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Comey revealed that Huma Abedin, a top aide to Hillary Clinton, forwarded thousands of emails, including classified information, to her husband, Anthony Weiner.

“Somehow, her emails were being forwarded to Anthony Weiner, including classified information,” Comey said, adding later, “His then-spouse, Huma Abedin, appears to have had a regular practice of forwarding emails to him for him to print out for her, so she could deliver them to the secretary of state.”

Those emails were found on Weiner’s laptop last year while he was being investigated by the FBI for allegedly sending explicit messages to an underage girl, Fox reported.

Comey said the discovery of the emails on Weiner’s laptop compelled him to revisit the investigation into Clinton’s private email server and her handling of classified information — shortly before the presidential election.

When asked if Weiner read the classified material, Comey said, “I don’t think so.”

He says both Abedin and Weiner “potentially” committed crimes. He says Abedin, in particular, was not prosecuted as he could not “prove criminal intent.”

“We didn’t have any indication that she had a sense of what she was doing was in violation of the law,” Comey said.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) questioned Comey on why he released the information publicly, knowing it could impact voters’ decisions.

Comey said in his view, it came down to a choice between “speak” and “conceal.” He concluded that releasing the information would be “really bad,” but concealing the information could have been “catastrophic.”

“I said to my team we have to walk into the world of ‘really bad.’ I have to tell Congress we’re restarting this,” he said.

“This was terrible. It makes me mildly nauseous to think we might’ve had some impact on the election. But honestly it wouldn’t change the decision.”

Meanwhile, Clinton said she believes she would be president right now if not for the Oct. 28 letter by Comey to Congress and “Russian Wikileaks” of emails connected to her campaign in an interview yesterday.

Yeah, it’s everyone else’s fault that you lost.
