Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has had enough of his players making political statements on the field, so he’s going to do something about it.

Jones spoke with Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News and was asked about two of his players raising their fists in the air at the end of the Anthem on Sunday. The billionaire team owner said he didn’t see them pull their little stunt, but gave his team a stern warning of what’s to come if their protests persist.

While other team owners have caved and capitulated to their players, Jones doesn’t appear to be backing down. In fact, he flat-out told them that if they disrespect the flag or the Anthem before the game, they’re simply not going to be playing in the game.

From Breitbart News:

According to Pro Football Talk, Jones said, “If there’s anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play. OK? Understand? If we are disrespecting the flag, then we won’t play. Period. Period.”

Jones continued, “We’re going to respect the flag, and I’m going to create the perception of it. And we have. I’m not aware and wouldn’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not aware of that. . . . We as a team are very much on the page together. We have made our expression that we’re together.”

The two Cowboys who raised their fists, Damontre Moore and David Irving, supposedly, weren’t on that same page.

The statement from Jones is the strongest from any owner yet. The NFL has a policy about paying respect to the anthem. Though, not necessarily a rule explicitly preventing kneeling. So, Jones is definitely going out on somewhat of a limb if he attempts to crackdown on future protesters.

Jones was also asked about what he thought of Vice President Pence walking out of the Indianapolis Colts game earlier in the day.

“I’m saying our vice president of the United States, if in his opinion there’s disrespect of the flag, then he should – he basically should — express himself however he wants to,” Jones said. “He’s got rights, too, so however he wants to do it.”

“He felt that not standing for the flag is disrespectful. I do, too,” he continued. “The league, in my mind, should absolutely take the rules we’ve got on the books and make sure that we do not give the perception that we’re disrespecting the flag.”

Jones’s comments come after a shock poll revealed that the NFL has become the least popular sport in America out of all the professional sports. The league’s fall from grace happened in just a month, with it going from the second most-popular sport in the nation to the least, all of which occurred after it decided to go toe-to-toe with President Trump.

Apparently, Jones is sick of losing money over his player’s politics.

Can you blame him?
