Texas Lawmaker Goes on Hunger Strike to Protest Sanctuary Bill…

Sassy Liberty AMERICA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS –

Rep. Victoria Neave (TX-D) is attempting to make quite the statement but for all the wrong reasons.  She attended mass on Sunday at Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Dallas and after receiving communion from the priest, she has eaten nothing.

Neave has launched a hunger strike for four days in protest of the “sanctuary city” bill that the Texas House is scheduled to debate on Wednesday. The bill would ban cities, counties, and universities from preventing local law enforcement agencies from asking about a person’s immigration status or enforcing immigration law.

For some reason, the distinction between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigrants has escaped her, which is baffling since she is a LAWMAKER!!

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the difference between the two as defined by the law is –

An illegal alien who entered the United States without inspection, for example, would be strictly defined as an immigrant under the INA but is not a permanent resident alien. Lawful permanent residents are legally accorded the privilege of residing permanently in the United States.

The Texas Senate has already approved the legislation since it’s clear they already understand the difference between the two.  Those against the bill are outnumbered in the House.  Texas Republicans believe the bill will create consistency among law enforcement agencies and would prevent jailed undocumented immigrants from being released.

Of course, liberal Democrats continue to make excuses as to why illegals should be allowed to abuse the American taxpayer claiming a litany of reasons,  among them claims the measures would lead to racial profiling and incite fear in immigrant communities.

Neave, represents parts of Dallas, Mesquite, and Garland, and of course, has a personal stake in this, her father, who she claims is now a United States citizen, apparently initially entered the country illegally. She claims this bills is a personal attack on her father, stating –

I feel like this is an attack on my dad and millions of other families across our state.”

Neave states her hunger strike is her last ditch effort and she is “praying for a miracle.” She claims her fast was inspired by the hunger strikes of civil rights activist Cesar Chavez.

On the Facebook page for the fast, organizers write –

This bill will undermine community policing efforts and will affect our neighbors, our workforce, kids in our schools, and the relationship between police and our communities. This doesn’t just affect the immigrant community, it impacts everyone who will need to prove he or she is a citizen.”

President Trump signed an executive order back in January.  The EO declared sanctuary jurisdictions would not be eligible to receive federal grants and Attorney General Jeff Sessions vowed last month during a White House news conference to take Justice Department money them as well. Sessions demanded that nine jurisdictions produce proof that they are communicating with federal authorities about undocumented immigrants just this past Friday. If not, they risk losing grant funding.

God Bless.
