SPREAD THIS: Liberals Claim President Trump Just SHUT DOWN ‘Meals On Wheels’ Program- LOOK What The ACTUAL Truth Is

President Trump’s proposed cuts to the popular “Meals on Wheels” program have liberals losing their minds but what they don’t understand is the fact that only a fraction of the program’s budget comes from the government.

A look at the 2015 financial statement shows the program brought in just over $7.5 million in funding that year.

$5.15 million of that comes from corporate and foundation grants making up $5.15 million.

Government grants made up just $248,347 of the funding – or 3.3 percent of total funds.

Adam Shaw at Fox News reports that Trump’s call to cut the program fed into the outrage Thursday over a multitude of reductions that the president has in store. Trump’s budget blueprint calls to slash programs within the State Department and Environmental Protection Agency, among others, in order to pump more money into defense.

Proposed cuts to the federal housing department include abolishing the Community Development Block Grant – a portion of which goes to fund the program delivering meals to the homebound elderly.

While Trump’s proposal is likely to be debated and significantly altered by Congress, media voices quickly pounced on “Meals on Wheels” as a central storyline to Trump’s budget.

“Late Night” host Seth Meyers accused Trump of being “dead inside.”

“Meals on Wheels?!” he asked rhetorically. “How dead inside do you have to be to not want old people to get food? Your heart is so small it makes your tiny hands look like catcher’s mitts.”

Twitter erupted with questions about Trump’s mental state for his supposed desire to starve the elderly.

Here’s one lib:

Here’s an Obama lover:

CNN’s Jim Acosta asked Budget Director Mick Mulvaney at the White House press briefing Thursday if his was a “hard-hearted budget.” When Mulvaney responded that he actually thought it was a compassionate budget, Acosta countered: “To cut programs that help the elderly and kids?”

Mulvaney also angered supporters of the program by suggesting it wasn’t showing results.

“Meals on Wheels sounds great … but to take the federal money and give it to the states and say, look, we want to give you money for programs that don’t work — I can’t defend that anymore,” he said. “We’re $20 trillion in debt.”

So, is Trump actually killing Meals on Wheels?

Ben Shapiro at Daily Wire says, “Not even close.”

The Trump administration proposed budget would kill the Community Development Block Grant, a federal boondoggle that’s largely been used for waste and fraud. It costs $3 billion per year. As the budget proposal stated, “The Federal Government has spent over $150 billion on this block grant since its inception in 1974, but the program is not well-targeted to the poorest populations and has not demonstrated results.” Nick Gillespie of Reason explains:

The money often is not going to Meals on Wheels or even to the neediest communities. As a Reason Foundation analysis also from 2013 shows, wealthier communities get the larger chunks of the money, particularly counties that—what a coincidence!—are in proximity to Washington, D.C….Check out this audit from Riverside County, California, for their CDBG expenditures for 2016, and there’s neither a meal nor a wheel to be found. Of the $761,744 the county received, nearly all of it went to improve a playground and the sidewalks of a single local elementary school. And note that the reason they were audited by Housing and Urban Development was because they hadn’t provided proper documentation of their expenses.

Meals on Wheels does get some money from the CDGB. But the vast majority of its funding comes from elsewhere, and as even the leftists over at Snopes state, “the effect of CDBG cuts on local Meals on Wheels groups is uncertain.” Only 3 percent of the Meals on Wheels budget nationally comes from the federal government at all, and only a portion of that comes from the CDBG. Walter Olson of the Cato Institute explains that 35 percent of federal funding for Meals on Wheels comes from the Older Americans Act, not the CDBG; no cuts have been contemplated to that program yet.

So, Trump isn’t killing Meals on Wheels. But the damaging media coverage has many Republicans cowering in fear. As usual.

“Meals on Wheels” is a great program and nobody wants to eliminate the program. A little tightening of the belt is all we ask. Quit wasting money, budget accurately and everything will be just fine.

Here’s an idea for California and other liberal states- stop giving illegal aliens all of the tax-payer’s money and “Meals On Wheels” would be able to serve lobsters, steaks and other top quality foods to the elderly. Keep throwing money away on illegal aliens and your elderly will pay the price and die from starvation. Priorities. Do the right thing you liberal morons.

Now shut the hell up.
