With so much negativity from the press regarding the Trump administration, sometimes it’s good to take a step back and appreciate the good things President Trump and our beautiful first lady Melania do for the country.

On Tuesday, the First Lady quietly ditched her husband for the day and traveled to West Virginia on her own. The trip wasn’t widely publicized, likely because the leftist media lunatics are constantly plotting on how they can undermine the President, but it was an important outreach by Melania to let our country know she truly does care.

Melania’s destination was in Huntington, where Lily’s Place, a medical facility that treats infants suffering from neonatal abstinence syndrome due to parental drug use, is full of children who’ve been subjected rugs through no fault of their own. Lily’s Place also offers treatment programs to addicts who are parents.

The First Lady outclassed her predecessor by a country mile as she toured the facility and spent time with the innocent children.

“I want to be here to support you and give a voice to Lily’s Place and also for the opioid epidemic,” Melania told the staff.

ABC News has more on the drug treatment facility:

The nonprofit facility was opened in 2014 by a group of volunteers and health care workers. Its website says the facility provides care for about 100 infants each year.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, West Virginia has the nation’s highest rate of babies born dependent on drugs at 33.4 per 1,000 hospital births, compared with the national average of 5.8. West Virginia also by far has the highest rate of drug overdose deaths.

The CDC says signs of drug withdrawal in babies include fevers, tremors, seizures, excessive crying, poor weight gain and dehydration.

“We need to open the conversation to children and young mothers how it’s dangerous to use drugs and get addicted to it,” Melania said.

The First Lady posted heartwarming pictures of her trip to her social media, where they were widely praised.

Melania spoke privately with the families receiving treatment at Lily’s Place, voicing her support for the model the facility can be in areas all across the country affected by the horrible opioid epidemic.

“It is my hope that we can find ways to create more of the opportunities afforded by places like Lily’s Place,” she said. “So that we can continue to help infants and children grow into happy, healthy adults.”
